- Chasco Machine and Manufacturing, Relocating to Hernando
The Office of Business Development is pleased to announce that Chasco Machine and Manufacturing, Incorporated has finalized plans for a new 24,800sf facility in the Hernando County Airport Industrial Park. Utilizing state-of-the-art computer numerically controlled (CNC) machining equipment this Tampa Bay based manufacturer produces critical tolerance, precision-machined parts primarily for the aerospace industry. It currently produces parts used in the production of Boeing 737 commercial aircraft. In an effort to build international business, the Company attended this year’s Farnborough Air Show, a leading aviation manufacturing showcase.
The Company currently employs 17 full-time workers and expects to add an additional 10 employees by virtue of their relocation and expansion. Construction has begun on the facility and Chasco expects to be operational by mid-2009. Owned by Mr. Jeff Roth, Chasco has been in business for nine years. Mr. Roth has developed numerous processes in the precision machining industry including proprietary software systems and equipment for “lights out” operations (the ability to produce parts in the evening hours). Mr. Roth will be active with the proposed Engineering Academy at Nature Coast Technical High School which will feature curriculum that supports the CNC industry.
Chasco has contracted with Regent Properties to design and build the manufacturing facility on Spring Hill Drive west of the National Guard Armory. Regent is the developer of 90,000sf of speculative industrial and commercial buildings currently under construction.
Hernando Progress Incorporated, a private non-profit business group dedicated to economic development, is supporting the effort for Chasco to move to Hernando by providing a grant which will be used to offset relocation expenses. Additional support for this relocation came from the Precision Alliance Group in Brooksville which is a local business effort to attract the CNC industry to Hernando County. The Office of Business Development is preparing an incentive contract for Chasco under the new Job Creation Incentive program approved by the County Commission in October 2008.
Chasco represents the ninth precision machining business at the Airport. Covering diverse end uses, Hernando’s precision machining industries produce parts for medical, aerospace and military customers.
